Autistic and ADHD Therapist and Educator

“The only way to make sense of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” - Alan Watts

ALL ABOUT B.

My name is B Lourenco, MA, LMHC, (she/her)
I am a licensed mental health counselor, educator, advocate, and activist. I been working in community support for 15+ years and am committed to social change on all system levels. Seeing mental health as a way to serve the community, I earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology, with a Systems Emphasis, in 2015 and began my private practice in 2017.

I have also worked in the public school system, providing support to students with behavioral issues that made attending school challenging for them. Highly trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), I became a district-wide expert in supporting neurodivergent students. It was during this work that I began to be critical of the current models of support for neurodivergence, including ABA. Making the shift from the medical to the affirming model has allowed me to finally identify my own neurodivergence, including Autism and ADHD.

Combining my lived experience of neurodivergence, along with years of anti-oppression work, I am passionate about helping others untangle themselves from harmful practices and align themselves with those that instead support marginalized communities. In addition to my work in neurodiversity, I am also a sex and relationship therapist, specializing in ethical non-monogamy and kink exploration. I have been a speaker on panels and podcasts, as well as facilitating therapeutic workshops both in-person and online.

ALL ABOUT THERAPY

Living in this world is hard, especially if you live with marginalized identities.  Through the use of tailored psychotherapy methods, somatic awareness, and collaborative treatment measures, my clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with their unique life obstacles. At B Lourenco Therapy Services, my therapy sessions are designed to unravel painful issues and provide patients with effective tools to help them cope with everyday life just a bit better.

As an Autistic and ADHD therapist, I am uniquely equipped to support folks from these populations, and work from a Neurodiversity Affirming Paradigm. I also have experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, poly and ethical non-monogamy, as well as Kink and BDSM.

ALL ABOUT EDUCATION

Ongoing education is the key to being the best support person we can be. I offer private and corporate consultation, supervision for new clinicians, and continuing education workshops to support other professionals in learning up-to-date concepts and growing in their therapeutic practice.

I have courses ready and available to train you or your staff. I am also able to tailor my trainings to meet the needs of your group. How can I help you?

I am a Continuing Education instructor with Cascadia Training Institute, an NBCC accredited agency that provide CE’s to all types of helping professionals.
